StreetProof is a map-first running app. Here's help with the common questions — and a way to reach us if you're stuck.

Getting started

Tap the start button to begin. Tap end to stop.

Open Menu → Workout Options and change the default activity type to Walk before you start. Every workout you record after that will be saved as a walk until you change the setting back.

The default is Run, so if you switch back and forth between running and walking, remember to update this setting each time you change activities.

StreetProof tracks your splits at every mile by default, with kilometers available within Menu → Workout Options. Apple limits third-party apps from using their split format when viewing workouts in Apple Fitness, so your splits display there as laps.

On the Apple Watch, you can also get a notification at each split — choose vibrate, an on-screen alert, or both in the watch app's settings.

Apple Watch

Yes — StreetProof works on iPhone alone. Start a workout, keep your phone with you, and the app records your route. The Apple Watch companion is optional.

Yes — the Watch app is designed to work independently if you have a cellular Apple Watch, so you can leave your phone at home and still have the full live-map experience on your wrist.

Without cellular, the Watch still records GPS and syncs to your iPhone when reconnected (so your workout will save fine), but the live map view on the Watch requires either cellular service or your iPhone within range.

Open Settings on your watch app by tapping the gear icon. You'll find options to change your default screen during a workout to the metrics, add distance and time to the map screen, add split notifications, add/remove map layers, and force a sync of routes.

Pins & map

Yes — by default, the coverage map shows runs. On the phone in Menu → Map Options, you can also enable walks and bike rides imported from Apple Health to display them on your map. You can also toggle visibility of red, yellow, and green pins from the same screen.

On the watch, the Settings screen lets you toggle past routes and individual pin layers on and off.

Pins are flexible markers you can drop anywhere on the map. There are three colors so you can use them for different purposes:

Red
Yellow
Green

Common uses include marking pit stops along planned routes, flagging missed streets you want to circle back to, or noting streets that were closed due to construction. You can give each pin color a custom label in Menu → Map Options (for example, naming red pins "Pit Stops") so you can tell them apart at a glance.

To add or edit pins, go to Menu → Map Options and tap Add/Edit Pins. This brings you back to the map in pin-editing mode. The dropdown at the top lets you switch between red, yellow, and green before placing a pin. Tap an existing pin to delete it, or tap and hold to drag it to a new location. Tap the X to exit pin-editing mode.

Troubleshooting

StreetProof shows workouts from Apple Health that include GPS route data. Workouts without route data (for example, indoor workouts or workouts from apps that don't save routes to Health) won't appear on the coverage map.

If a workout still isn't showing, open Menu → Workout History and tap the refresh button. Permissions can be viewed in Menu → Support, though changes have to be made in the iPhone's Settings app under Privacy & Security.

Route syncing sometimes takes a few minutes, especially after a Watch-only workout — give it time before assuming something's wrong. Don't delete the workout from Apple Fitness just because the route is missing.

If the route still hasn't appeared after a while, make sure your Apple Watch is near your iPhone (for Watch-only workouts), open both StreetProof and the StreetProof Watch app, and try the Route Recovery tool in Menu → Support. If those don't work, restarting both devices usually does the trick.

Email hello@reforged.studio with a description of what happened. Including your iPhone model, iOS version, and what you were doing when it happened helps a lot.

Your data

Workouts are stored in Apple Health. Open the Fitness app or Health app to delete them — note that this is generally permanent and the workout cannot be recovered. Deletions there will be reflected in StreetProof.

Workouts saved to Apple Health stay there and remain in the Fitness app. Pins and app-specific settings are removed with the app.
